  • 4 tbsp milk plus more if needed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 drops pink gel food coloring
  • 0.5 cup sprinkles assorted

Equipment

  • Stand Mixer
  • Dutch Oven or Heavy Pot
  • Donut Cutter
  • Wire rack
  • Thermometer

Method

  1. Combine warm milk and 1 tsp sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let bloom for 10 minutes.
  2. Add remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead (stand mixer or hand) for 5-7 minutes until soft and tacky.
  4. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut donuts and holes.
  6. Let cut donuts rise again on baking sheet for 30-45 minutes.
  7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1 minute per side until golden brown.
  8. Cool on wire rack. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.

Notes
