Ingredients

Tuna Salad Base
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) solid white albacore tuna packed in water, thoroughly drained
  • 0.33 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Mix-ins & Seasonings
  • 2 stalks celery finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup red bell pepper finely diced
  • 2 tbsp red onion finely minced
  • 0.25 cup black olives sliced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste
For Assembly
  • 2 large butter croissants sliced horizontally
  • 2 leaves butter lettuce optional barrier

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Fork for flaking tuna
  • Chef's knife
  • Cutting board
  • Serrated Bread Knife

Method

  1. Drain the tuna completely and flake it into a medium mixing bowl with a fork.
  2. Add the chopped celery, red bell pepper, red onion, and sliced olives to the bowl.
  3. In a small bowl or directly over the tuna, add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, fresh dill (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Gently fold everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Slice the croissants in half. Optionally, lightly toast them.
  6. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each croissant (if using), then scoop a generous amount of tuna salad on top.
  7. Cover with the top half of the croissant and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure the tuna is very well drained and ingredients are chopped uniformly. Do not assemble the sandwiches in advance to keep the croissants flaky.
