Ingredients
  

Pastry Base
  • 1 box frozen puff pastry thawed (2 sheets)
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water for egg wash
Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp lemon zest optional
Toppings
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold thawed puff pastry and cut into hearts using a cookie cutter.
  3. Lightly score a smaller heart inside the border (do not cut through) and prick the center with a fork.
  4. Mix softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and zest until smooth.
  5. Spoon filling into the center of each heart. Brush the edges with egg wash.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly, then top with fresh strawberries and dust with powdered sugar.
