Strawberry Cinnamon Rolls

Fluffy, homemade yeast rolls filled with cinnamon and strawberry jam, topped with a natural pink strawberry cream cheese icing and fresh berries.

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 packet instant yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1 egg large
Filling
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 0.33 cup strawberry jam
Pink Icing
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp strawberry puree strained

Equipment

  • Stand Mixer
  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Rolling pin
  • Dental floss (for cutting)

Method
 

  1. In a stand mixer, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 mins if using active dry.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Knead on medium speed for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
  4. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
  5. Roll dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread cinnamon mixture, then layer with strawberry jam.
  6. Roll up tightly into a log. Cut into 12 even rolls using dental floss or a knife.
  7. Place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  9. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and strawberry puree to make icing. Spread over warm rolls.
  10. Top with fresh sliced strawberries and serve immediately.

Notes

Pour heavy cream over rolls before baking for extra softness.
