Ingredients
  

Sugared Cranberries (Garnish)
  • 0.5 cup water for syrup
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar for syrup
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar for rolling
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
Margarita
  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 3 oz cranberry juice 100% juice preferred
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup optional
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 splash club soda to top

Method
 

  1. To make sugared cranberries: Simmer water and 1/2 cup sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat. Stir in cranberries to coat, then transfer to a wire rack to dry for 15 minutes until tacky.
  2. Roll the tacky cranberries in the remaining sugar until frosted. Set aside.
  3. Rim a glass with a lime wedge and dip into sugar.
  4. In a shaker, muddle mint leaves with simple syrup.
  5. Add tequila, triple sec, cranberry juice, lime juice, and ice. Shake vigorously.
  6. Strain into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  7. Top with a splash of club soda.
  8. Garnish with sugared cranberries and a mint sprig.

Notes

For a mocktail version, replace tequila and triple sec with ginger beer or extra sparkling water.
