Ingredients

Rosemary Cranberry Syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
The Cocktail
  • 8 oz vodka or gin (2 oz per drink)
  • 2 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 12 oz club soda or sparkling water
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary for garnish
  • 0.5 cup fresh cranberries for garnish

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Cocktail Shaker or Spoon
  • Stemless Wine Glasses

Method

  1. Combine water, sugar, and 1 cup of cranberries in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, then add 4 rosemary sprigs. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until berries burst.
  3. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on solids to extract juice. Discard solids and let syrup cool completely.
  4. Fill 4 glasses with ice cubes.
  5. Pour 2 oz of vodka (or gin) and 2 oz of the cooled syrup into each glass.
  6. Add a splash of lime juice to each glass.
  7. Top with club soda or sparkling water and stir gently.
  8. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs and raw cranberries. Serve immediately.

Notes

To make a non-alcoholic mocktail, simply omit the vodka and add more club soda or ginger ale. The syrup can be made up to a week in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
