Method
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Grease a large pot, two mixing bowls, a spatula, and your hands with non-stick spray.
- Melt the butter in the pot over low heat. Add the 10 oz of marshmallows and stir continuously until smoothly melted. Remove from heat immediately.
- Stir in the vanilla and salt. Divide the melted marshmallow mixture evenly between the two greased bowls.
- Add pink gel food coloring to one bowl and stir until the color is vibrant. Leave the other bowl white.
- Quickly fold 3 cups of cereal into each bowl. Fold in 1/2 cup of unmelted marshmallows into each bowl.
- Working quickly with greased hands, roll a handful of the pink mixture into a 6-inch log. Repeat with the white mixture.
- Lay the pink and white ropes side by side, press the tops together, and gently twist them around each other.
- Carefully insert a wooden skewer through the center of the twist. Place on the baking sheet to set for 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Do not refrigerate, as it will make the treats hard. Gel food coloring works best to prevent adding too much moisture to the marshmallow mix.
