Ingredients

Base Butters & Oils
  • 1 cup Shea Butter raw or refined
  • 0.5 cup Coconut Oil solid state
  • 0.5 cup Sweet Almond Oil or Jojoba oil
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil antioxidant preservative
Add-ins for Texture & Scent
  • 2 tbsp Arrowroot Powder to reduce greasiness
  • 30-50 drops Rose Essential Oil or Rose Geranium
  • 0.25 tsp Pink Mica Powder optional colorant
  • 1 tbsp Dried Rose Petals for garnish

Equipment

  • Double boiler or heat-safe bowl and pot
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer with whisk attachment
  • Piping bag and large star tip
  • Glass jars with lids
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Melt Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in a double boiler until completely liquid and clear.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E Oil.
  3. Refrigerate the mixture for 45-60 minutes until it is semi-solid (opaque and firm at edges, soft in center).
  4. Using a mixer, whip the semi-solid fats starting on low speed, increasing to high, for 5 minutes until white and fluffy.
  5. Add Arrowroot Powder, Rose Essential Oil, and Mica Powder. Whip on high for another 5-10 minutes until stiff peaks form and volume has doubled.
  6. Transfer to a piping bag with a star tip and pipe into jars. Garnish with dried rose petals.
  7. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct heat/sunlight. If it melts, re-chill and re-whip.

Notes

Keep water away from the product to prevent spoilage. Total time includes passive cooling time. Adjust essential oil drops for desired scent strength.
