- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish well with butter or cooking spray.
- Place thawed hash browns in a clean towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. This ensures crispiness.
- In a large bowl, mix the dried hash browns, melted butter, beaten eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Press the potato mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from oven. Top evenly with shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes to firm up before slicing into squares.
- Drizzle with sour cream and garnish with fresh chives before serving.
Notes
To make the sour cream easier to drizzle (as shown in the image), whisk it with 1 tablespoon of milk before using.
