Ingredients

Punch Base
  • 3 cups cranberry juice cocktail full sugar/regular, chilled
  • 3 cups pineapple juice chilled
  • 4 cups ginger ale chilled
Garnish
  • pineapple wedges for garnish
  • fresh or sugared cranberries for garnish

Equipment

  • Large pitcher or punch bowl
  • Serving spoon or ladle
  • Serving glasses

Method

  1. Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly chilled (ideally near 35°F or 2°C).
  2. In a pitcher, gently combine the chilled cranberry juice cocktail and pineapple juice. Stir minimally to blend flavors.
  3. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to ensure a heavy, viscous base and optimal chilling.
  4. For serving glasses: Fill with ice cubes. Pour the juice base until two-thirds full.
  5. Slowly pour the chilled ginger ale over the back of a spoon into the glass. The lighter ginger ale will float on the heavier, viscous juice base, creating a layered effect.
  6. Garnish each drink immediately with a pineapple wedge and cranberries.

Notes

Using full-sugar cranberry juice cocktail is essential for the higher density needed for layering. The slow pour technique over a spoon ensures the layers remain separate. Serve immediately to maintain the temperature and viscosity.
