Ingredients

Slider Base
  • 12 count Hawaiian sweet rolls one package
  • 8 oz deli ham thinly sliced
  • 4 oz genoa salami
  • 4 oz pepperoni
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
Grinder Salad
  • 3 cups iceberg lettuce finely shredded
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup red onion thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup banana peppers chopped, plus 1 tsp juice
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
Garlic Butter Glaze
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp parmesan cheese grated

Equipment

  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Serrated Bread Knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the block of rolls in half horizontally.
  2. Place bottom buns in a baking dish. Layer half the provolone cheese, followed by ham, salami, and pepperoni.
  3. Top with remaining cheese. Bake open-faced (without top buns) for 10-12 minutes until cheese melts.
  4. While baking, whisk mayonnaise, vinegar, spices, and peppers. Toss with lettuce and onion to make the salad.
  5. Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and parmesan for the glaze.
  6. Remove sliders from oven. Pile the cold grinder salad on top of the melted cheese.
  7. Place the top buns on the salad. Brush tops generously with garlic butter glaze.
  8. Optional: Bake for 2 more minutes to crisp the tops, or serve immediately for hot/cold contrast.

Notes

Assemble the salad just before serving to keep the lettuce crunchy. Use mild or hot banana peppers depending on spice preference.
