Ingredients

Treat Dough
  • 2.5 cups old-fashioned rolled oats divided use
  • 1 ripe banana large, mashed
  • 0.33 cup natural peanut butter XYLITOL-FREE, smooth
  • 1 egg large (optional binder)

Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Bone-shaped cookie cutter
  • Wire cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place 1.5 cups of oats in a food processor and pulse until fine flour forms. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the banana thoroughly. Whisk in peanut butter and egg (if using) until smooth.
  4. Add the oat flour and the remaining 1 cup of whole oats to the wet mixture. Mix until a stiff dough forms.
  5. Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters.
  6. Place on baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and firm.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack to harden before storing.

Notes

CRITICAL: Ensure your peanut butter does NOT contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. For crunchier treats, let them cool inside the turned-off oven.
