- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and fine sea salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Whisk in the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until light and creamy.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks and toasted chopped pecans.
- Cover the bowl and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop 3-tablespoon mounds of dough onto the sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 11-13 minutes until edges are golden. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
- Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let set.
Notes
Chilling the dough is critical for thick cookies. Freezes well unbaked or baked.
