Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter divided
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Sauce & Seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.25 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional for heat
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Tongs
  • Chef's knife

Method

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Toss with paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
  3. Add shrimp in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until pink. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter. Add broccoli florets and broth. Cover and steam for 3 minutes.
  5. Push broccoli to the side, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return shrimp to the pan. Toss everything together to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
  7. Drizzle with lemon juice, adjust seasoning, and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcook the shrimp or they will become rubbery. For softer broccoli, steam for an extra minute before adding the garlic.
