Method
- Place your martini glass in the freezer to chill for at least 10 minutes.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the fresh mint leaves and simple syrup.
- Gently muddle the mint to release the oils. Do not crush it to a pulp.
- Add the gin (or vodka) and fresh lime juice to the shaker.
- Fill the shaker completely with ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
- Double strain (using a fine mesh sieve) into the chilled martini glass to catch small leaf particles.
- Slap a fresh sprig of mint between your hands to release aroma and float it on top as garnish.
Notes
For a 'snowy' effect, rim the glass with sugar before pouring. Ensure you double strain to keep the drink elegant and smooth.
