Ingredients

Punch Base
  • 4 cups white cranberry juice chilled
  • 2 cups sparkling water or lemon-lime soda chilled
  • 1 cup blue curacao syrup non-alcoholic, or blue raspberry syrup
Garnish and Rim
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar for rim
  • 1 lime cut into wedges, for rim and garnish
  • fresh cranberries for garnish
  • blueberries/mint for garnish

Equipment

  • Large pitcher or punch bowl
  • Small, flat plate
  • Serving glasses

Method

  1. Moisten glass rims with a lime wedge and dip into sugar to create a thick, clumpy sugar rim. Set aside.
  2. In a pitcher, combine the chilled white cranberry juice and the viscous blue curacao syrup. Stir well until the color is uniform.
  3. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to ensure optimal coldness (ideally near 32°F or 0°C).
  4. Just before serving, gently pour in the chilled sparkling water or soda. Stir minimally to keep the fizz.
  5. Fill the prepared glasses with large ice cubes. Pour the punch over the ice. The syrupy liquid will cling beautifully.
  6. Garnish each drink with a lime wedge, cranberries, and a mint sprig.

Notes

Using chilled ingredients and chilling the base for 30 minutes is crucial to maintain temperature, carbonation, and the desired viscous texture. For an adult version, substitute soda with a spirit of choice.
