Ingredients

Dip
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage regular or spicy
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix 1 ounce
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • chopped green onions optional, for garnish
  • diced jalapeños optional, for extra heat

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish
  • Large Skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Hand mixer or whisk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook breakfast sausage, breaking it into small crumbles, for 8-10 minutes until browned with no pink remaining.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, milk, and ranch seasoning mix. Beat until smooth.
  4. Drain excess grease from cooked sausage and add to the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Add 1.5 cups cheddar cheese and all mozzarella cheese to the bowl. Fold until evenly combined.
  6. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish, spreading evenly. Sprinkle remaining 0.5 cup cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until heated through, cheese is melted and bubbly, and top shows golden brown spots.
  8. Let rest 2-3 minutes before serving. Garnish with green onions or jalapeños if desired.
  9. Serve hot with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese from a block. Spicy breakfast sausage adds extra kick. Can substitute Italian sausage or turkey sausage. Store leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F or microwave in 30-second intervals.
