Ingredients

Sandwich Components
  • 1 large artisan baguette crusty
  • 2 cups cooked chicken chopped into chunks
  • 6 slices bacon thick-cut, cooked crispy and crumbled
Creamy Herbed Sauce
  • 0.33 cup mayonnaise high-quality
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese softened
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or buttermilk
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp dried dill
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives finely chopped
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Skillet or baking sheet for bacon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Serrated Bread Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Cook the bacon until very crispy. Drain on paper towels, let cool, and crumble into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Fold the chopped cooked chicken and fresh chives into the creamy sauce until the chicken is well coated.
  4. Slice the baguette horizontally. Spoon the creamy chicken mixture evenly onto the bottom half of the bread.
  5. Generously top the chicken layer with the crumbled crispy bacon. Garnish with a few extra chives if desired.
  6. Place the top half of the baguette on the sandwich, press lightly, and slice into portions. Serve immediately.

Notes

To prevent the bread from getting soggy if making ahead, lightly butter the inside of the baguette or line it with lettuce before adding the chicken mixture.
