Ingredients

Salad Components
  • 8 cups romaine lettuce chopped
  • 2 cups grilled chicken breast diced
  • 6 strips bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 cup cucumber diced
  • 0.5 cup blue cheese crumbled
  • 1 avocado diced, optional
Dressing
  • 0.5 cup ranch dressing or dressing of choice
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Skillet for bacon
  • Grill or grill pan
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble.
  2. Prepare hard-boiled eggs by boiling, cooling in ice water, peeling, and slicing.
  3. Season chicken breast with salt and pepper, then grill over medium-high heat for 6-7 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let rest 5 minutes, then dice.
  4. Wash and dry romaine lettuce thoroughly, then chop into bite-sized pieces. Halve cherry tomatoes and dice cucumber.
  5. Arrange chopped romaine in a large serving bowl as the base.
  6. Create neat rows or sections with each ingredient: chicken, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese, and avocado if using.
  7. Drizzle with your choice of dressing or serve on the side. Garnish with fresh herbs and black pepper.
  8. Serve immediately, allowing each person to toss their portion or enjoy ingredients separately.

Notes

For meal prep, store all components separately in airtight containers for up to 4 days. Assemble just before serving for best texture. Substitute turkey bacon for a lighter option, or use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
