Ingredients

The Base
  • 2 slices brioche bread thick-cut (1 inch)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter for pan-toasting
The Toppings
  • 4 tbsp chocolate hazelnut spread Nutella or similar
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries chopped
  • 2 tbsp hazelnuts roasted and chopped
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar for garnish

Equipment

  • Skillet or Toaster
  • Bread knife
  • Small Sieve (for dusting)

Method

  1. Wash strawberries and chop into bite-sized chunks. Roughly chop the roasted hazelnuts.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add brioche slices and toast for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
  3. Transfer hot toast to a plate or board. Immediately spread 2 tablespoons of chocolate hazelnut spread onto each slice.
  4. Top generously with chopped strawberries and scatter hazelnuts over the fruit.
  5. Dust with powdered sugar using a small sieve and serve warm.

Notes

Pan-frying the brioche in butter gives the best flavor, but a toaster can be used for a lighter version.
