Ingredients
  

Donut Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg freshly grated
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
Galaxy Glaze & Topping
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 3-4 tbsp milk for consistency
  • 1 tsp gel food coloring violet, navy, black
  • 1 cup rock candy crushed, purple and clear

  • Piping bag
  • Mixing bowls
  • Wire rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray donut pan with non-stick spray.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter in a separate bowl; fold into dry ingredients.
  4. Pipe batter into pan (2/3 full) and bake 10-12 minutes. Cool completely.
  5. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a thick glaze. Divide and tint with gel colors.
  6. Swirl colors back into the main bowl (do not mix) and dip donuts to create marble effect.
  7. Immediately top with crushed rock candy shards and gold dust. Let set for 20 minutes.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter or the donuts will be tough. Ensure donuts are cool before glazing.
